Medical teaching quality under threat

THE BREADTH and quality of teaching in British medical schools is being put in jeopardy by the Research Assessment Exercise, according to Colin Smith, chairman of the British Medical Association's medical academics' committee. He says clinical teaching and practice are losing out as departments struggle for research ratings.
