A proposal to build a £500 million UK Centre for Medical Research and Innovation near St Pancras in London moved closer this week with the Prime Minister announcing that the Government will sell the land, currently owned by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, to the medical research consortium that wants to build it. The Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust and University College London were successful after a bid of £85 million, although the final figure is yet to be agreed.
