Masters for new media world

二月 23, 2007

A new grande école is set to train the next generation of French television producers, programme-makers and digital archivists.

Ina'Sup, which is to be launched this autumn by France's National Audiovisual Institute (INA), will offer masters courses in heritage and production. Each will last two years and will fit into the European degree system.

The heritage course will focus on areas such as project management, collection, conservation and archiving of audiovisual and digital resources.

It will also cover the economics of media and computerised imaging, and audiovisual and digital policies concerning television and the web.

The production course will combine basic subjects including economics and management, law and contemporary culture with professional training in practicalities such as how to develop programmes, manage production companies and television channels and produce content for new media.

The annual intake of 40 students will follow a common core comprising law, economics, English, management and the history of the audiovisual sector, the place of computers and video in contemporary artistic movements and the principles of management.

The school will be situated at the INA's campus in Bry-sur-Marne, about 12km east of Paris. The institute, which was set up in the 1970s, is one of the leading audiovisual centres in the world. It collects, saves, digitises, restores and disseminates French radio and television archives.
