London School of Economics - Black to the future

A university has held an event designed to inspire young black Londoners to aim for the top in the world of education. The second Black to the Future conference at the London School of Economics attracted 380 people to hear more about their options for the future and get encouragement from leading members of Britain's African-Caribbean community. The main speaker was Yvonne Brewster, founder of Talawa, Britain's leading black theatre company, who told the teenagers: "Life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself." The conference on 10 October coincided with Black History Month.
