Loan debts Bill gets second reading

The Education (Student Loans) Bill, to sell off student loan debt, received its second reading by 267 votes to three in the House of Commons week. The main opposition parties abstained on the vote, but frontbench Conservative spokesman Angela Browning declared her party's support for the measure while Liberal Democrat Phil Willis said higher education was losing a priceless asset "in the name of financial expediency".
