Liverpool, Bolton and Manchester - A unifying chemical bond

A £30 million grant will pay for a new centre for materials chemistry split between the universities of Liverpool, Bolton and Manchester as well as the Daresbury Laboratory. The centre will support industry in the development of new technology and products in areas such as pharmaceuticals, electronics and energy sources. John Denham, the Universities Secretary, said: "This is a fantastic initiative with huge potential to explore many exciting areas ... Some of the very best science has been carried out at Daresbury, and (this) is a further step towards ensuring this continues."
