Bureaucracy 'strangling' FE, says Harwood
Learning and Skills Council chief John Harwood has promised to reduce the bureacracy that colleges claim is strangling further education. But he has denied a growth in bureaucracy under the LSC, which took over college funding and planning in April. He told the education and skills select committee yesterday that the LSC had been burdened with inherited structures and costs.

The report by Stephen Frosh, professor of psychology at Birkbeck College, University of London, former colleague Rob Pattman and Ann Phoenix from the Open University, found their counterparts at public schools had the opposite attitude to academic success.
NI learning minister bids for £21m
Sean Farren, Northern Ireland’s minister for employment and learning, is seeking bids for £21 million of European Social Funding for training and employment projects. Successful projects will be funded for up to two years.
