Female academics face discrimination
Women, including female academics, suffer discrimination in trying to commercialise their ideas and discoveries, according to a new report from the Industrial Society. It found that female entrepreneurs face sexual stereotyping from banks and other financial backers.

Education committee to quiz ministers

All six education and skills ministers have been called to give evidence before a committee of MPs. The move by the education and skills select committee will see education secretary Estelle Morris first up on October 24, followed by early learning minister Baroness Ashton on November 7, school standards minister Stephen Timms on November 14, minister for young people Ivan Lewis on November 21, adult skills minister John Healey on November 28 and higher education minister Margaret Hodge on December 12.
