Education secretary invites employers' input
Employers should have more say in the education and training provided by universities and colleges, education secretary Estelle Morris told an employers' skills summit in London. Their influence could help strengthen new vocational routes through further and higher education and encourage more working-class people to aim for a degree.
Blair launches NHS University
Tony Blair formally launched the NHS University yesterday, promising that it would be the “world’s largest university”. “The NHS University will deliver training in areas common to all health professionals - from consultants to support workers - such as communication, ethics and assessment skills,” said the Department of Health.
