Heat treatment reduces post-operative infections
Warming patients who are about to undergo surgery could reduce the risk of post-operative infection by more than 60 per cent, doctors have said. A study at the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton-on-Tees, found that infection rates fell dramatically when patients were warmed 30 minutes before going into theatre.
