Alexander launches Glasgow 'culture campus'
Wendy Alexander, Scotland’s minister for enterprise and lifelong learning, today opened the £6 million first phase of a £16 million “cultural campus” in the east end of Glasgow. The new John Wheatley College building will house 700 students and have two crèches.

Government woos foreign doctors
The government is to launch an advertising campaign to attract foreign doctors to the United Kingdom. The National Health Service Plan published last year promised to employ 7,500 more consultants and 2,000 more GPs by the end of 2004.

McLeish aims for social justice
Scotland’s first minister, Henry McLeish, has said his key aim is social justice. Speaking to an audience of Glasgow University staff in advance of the new parliamentary term, Mr McLeish said this meant education and training and access to skills.
