SQA claims success with Higher results
The Scottish Qualifications Authority has claimed a success rate of more than 99 per cent in getting accurate and prompt results to Higher examination candidates today. Some 200 candidates even received their results yesterday — the SQA and the Royal Mail blamed each other for the premature delivery.
California dean to lead LBS
Laura D’Andrea Tyson has been appointed dean of the London Business School. Professor Tyson is currently dean of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. For part of her time in the Clinton administration in 1993-96, she served as national economic adviser. She will take up her new position in January 2002. http://www.london.edu/news_events/
Chemical technology foundation degree launched
The University of Teesside is offering a new two-year foundation degree in chemical technology that is backed by a number of local companies, including BASF. Students will get a £1,000 bursary plus a two-month paid industrial placement. The course has been designed to teach students with A levels in any subject.
