Oil giant Shell is set to become the latest target for an animal rights group trying to shut down Huntingdon Life Sciences, the pharmaceutical testing firm. The Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (Shac) group says in a new memorandum to supporters that it is “time to give Shell hell!” because it is a customer of HLS.

Clearing goes online
ECCTIS, the company which manages the government’s official database of university courses, is launching an online clearing service for the estimated 25 per cent of students who need to find a university place after receiving their A-level results. The free service, live from August 16, will be updated by universities daily and is searchable by course type and institution. ECCTIS is part-owned by The THES 's parent company TSL Education.
