BMA warns of crisis
The British Medical Association has warned of a recruitment and retention crisis in academic medicine. Speaking at the BMA's annual representatives' meeting this week, Ian Bogle, chairman of the BMA council, said applications to medical schools were down and the quality of student teaching was under threat.

Yoko Ono honoured by Liverpool
Yoko Ono was today due to receive an honorary degree from Liverpool University, where she helped found scholarships in memory of her husband, former Beatle John Lennon. She will be made a doctor of laws at a ceremony in the city’s Philharmonic Hall.
