London merger on the cards
London Guildhall University and the University of North London today announced a strategic collaboration with a view to a merger which would create one of the largest student bodies in the country. The two are hoping to develop a strategic alliance with the University of East London.

AUT calls for more investment
The Association of University Teachers opened its summer council in Scarborough today by unveiling research showing that nearly half Britain’s universities and colleges of higher education were in debt last year. Universities needed huge investment in research and teaching, they said.

Crash student fights for £3m
London Guildhall University design student Lucinda Dymoke White has won the first round of her claim for £3 million damages following a car accident in which she suffered severe head injuries. At a High Court hearing, Judge Alan Wilkie QC ruled that motorist Lady Sarah Chapman was 80 per cent to blame for the accident.
