Tory manifesto promises university autonomy
One-off cash endowments for British universities would free them from political interference and uncertainty over funding, the Conservative election manifesto says. The manifesto, published yesterday, also proposes doubling the income threshold for student-loan repayments to £20,000.

The study was based on the records of 44,465 Scottish men and 38,710 women. The findings are reported in today’s British Medical Journal .
