£15m wage boost for lecturers

About 2,000 scientists are gathering in Glasgow for the British Psychological Society’s 100th annual conference. It was founded by ten scientists who met at University College London.

Helen Aspell, left-wing challenger to National Union of Students' president Owain James, was assaulted while returning to her hotel in Blackpool last night. She had earlier been defeated by 602 votes to 3 at the NUS annual conference.
Call for reform of Scots rape laws
The women’s campaign of the National Union of Students Scotland today joined calls for the reform of Scottish rape laws after Aberdeen University student Edward Watt was acquitted of the rape of another student. The judge ruled that lack of consent was not enough for a rape charge.
