More men than women are student virgins
One in five male students, and more than one in ten women students, are still virgins, a survey of 2,600 students by virginstudent.com revealed today. Lowest scorers were politics and economics students, with 28 per cent admitting to having had no sex at all since going to university.
£10 million scheme will encourage aspiring students
Thousands of 16-year-olds will be given the chance to think about higher education while taking part in a £10 million outdoor adventure scheme this summer. The Department for Education and Employment scheme, free for 14,000 youngsters, aims to bridge the gap between school and adult life. After a pilot last year an extra 5 per cent decided to stay in education.
Glasgow honours Prince Charles
Prince Charles is to receive an honorary degree from Glasgow University as part of its 550th anniversary celebrations. The first honorary degree to be conferred on Glasgow’s present campus was in 1868 to the then Prince of Wales, who became Edward VII.
