Learning disability website launched
Health minister Jacqui Smith will launch a website today that aims to combat medical discrimination against people with Down's syndrome and other learning disabilities. The site, created by the Down’s Syndrome Association and St George's Hospital Medical School in London, will provide a broad range of information for medical students and health professionals.

Politicians want archaeological heritage protection
Peers and MPs want action to protect Britain's archaeological heritage, under threat from house building and farming, according to the All-Party Parliamentary Archaeology Group. The politicians were alerted by the largest known survey of the sector, compiled by more than 250 individuals and organisations, ranging from university departments to local societies.

Glasgow students oppose accommodation sale
Glasgow University students have presented a 1,000-signature petition against the university’s planned sale of half of its halls of residence to a housing association. The university said that the move could raise up to £40 million and rent increases would be restricted.
