Hodge promises to consult on student finance
The higher education sector will be consulted on government proposals to reform student finance,  higher education minister Margaret Hodge has confirmed. The government plans to consult bodies such as Universities UK and the National Union of Students on the results of its student finance review due in the new year.

Rethink part of wider funding overhaul
The review of student support is part of a wider rethink on funding for all adult learners, education minister John Healey told MPs yesterday. Mr Healey, speaking in the Commons the day after the government announced the suspension of its flagship individual learning account scheme, also cast doubt on the future of the education maintenance allowance scheme.

Glasgow spins a yarn
Glasgow University’s Crichton campus is marking national Tell A Story day with the launch of the first Scottish university course in storytelling. The course can be taken as part of the Crichton BA degrees in creative and cultural studies and Scottish studies.
