Lack of expertise costs colleges millions

Universities are wasting millions of pounds purchasing goods and services without expert advice and proper procurement strategies, the public spending watchdog has warned.

The National Audit Office has estimated that at least Pounds 22 million could be saved across the sector if universities more wisely administered their Pounds 3.25 billion spending on goods and services such as laboratory equipment, libraries, catering and estates.
