The Medeval laboratory in Manchester's science park pays students Pounds 600 to test the toxicity of pesticides used in pet flea collars. Inveresk Research, near Heriot-Watt University's Edinburgh campus, pays students Pounds 480 to test a pesticide that is not licensed for agricultural use in Britain.
