Labour shuns another Mandy

Mandy Telford, the ex-president of the National Union of Students, failed to get elected to Labour's National Executive Committee last week, coming second from bottom in the voting. Those close to her said that, rather optimistically, she hoped to use a position on the NEC to steer Labour away from tuition fees and towards a more "student-friendly" policy. Bearing in mind that her strong Labour roots nearly cost her a second term as NUS president, will Ms Telford - who has kept pretty quiet about her career plans - be checking out the job vacancies on the Conservative side?
