King tipped for top science advisory role

Cambridge University chemist David King has been offered the post of chief scientific adviser to the government. Professor King, head of the department of chemistry and master of Downing College, was tipped by Nature as the likely successor to Sir Robert May. Colleagues confirmed a verbal approach was made three weeks ago.
