Keele hauled

九月 12, 1997

The struggle for leadership in education policy between the beached whale that is the University of London Institute of Education and a noted service area on the M6 (or, as the University of Keele phrases it, a "stunning 617-acre parkland campus just off the M6 near Newcastle under Lyme") has taken another twist.

Kate Myers is to join Keele as professor of professional development in education, setting up a group alongside the Centre for Successful Schools run by Margaret Maden. The new centre will work with school teachers and FE lecturers. Dr Myers is arriving from the Institute of Education, where she worked with Michael Barber, a former Keele professor who, like his Keele predecessor Tim Brighouse, is now a Labour education adviser. They doubtless have many fun meetings with the person who really knows about Britain's schools - Chris Woodhead MA (Keele).
