A Libyan delegation visiting the ancient city of Kano in Nigeria signed an agreement to build an Islamic university there at a cost of about $300 million (Pounds 200 million). Nigerian federal authorities are keeping close watch over the project to prevent the centre being used to train Islamic fundamentalists.
