Job prospects for graduates continue to look bright, with the number of vacancies up by more than 11 per cent this year and starting salaries as high as £35,000 on offer.

A biannual survey of 224 major graduate employers, commissioned by the Association of Graduate Recruiters, has found that during 2004-05 graduates faced less competition for jobs, with the average number of applications per place dropping from 37.6 to 32.9.
