Freudian slip of the conference goes to left-wing weekly Tribune's omission of the word "not" from one of David Blunkett's columns so that the sentence in question read: "Our proposals do involve charging the students an entry fee." Tribune was suitably abashed when a horrified adviser rang to remonstrate, but as one insider pointed out, "After what has gone on in the past few months, how were we supposed to spot that it was a mistake?"
