Napier University is jazzing up its teaching, offering Scotland's first postgraduate course in jazz from September. The new master of music in jazz will bring together up to 20 music graduates from throughout the United Kingdom and Europe. It will be taught by Scotland's first jazz musician in residence, Eddie Severn, who is based at Napier's Ian Tomlin school of music.

The one-year course will include composition, theory and ear training, and visiting tutors will include Scotland's leading saxophonist, Tommy Smith.
