The Council for Assisting Refugee Academics (Cara) has offered six fellowships to researchers still in Iraq or the surrounding region, following offers of sponsored research or PhD places from Birmingham, Brunel, Lincoln, Ulster and Wolverhampton universities, University College London and Queen's University, Belfast. All associated fees have been waived for the honorary posts, which are for up to three years. Plymouth University and University of Wales, Bangor are also supporting Iraqi academics and have waived bench fees. Cara has referred a further 12 Iraqi academics to the Scholars' Rescue Fund (SRF) for consideration for their fellowship scheme. Among those, two have received offers from Exeter University.
