International workshop on accessibility requirements for public procurement in the ICT domain, 19-21 Oct. in Brussels

An international workshop on public procurement policy will be held in Brussels, Belgium, from 19 to 21 October.

The workshop will address the harmonisation of e-accessibility requirements to be used in the public procurement of information and communications technology (ICT) products and services and the requirements for policy implementation in this field.

19 October- 'European Policy Day' - where we are today. This workshop will investigate the roles that regulation and standardisation are currently playing and the roles that they will need to play in order to set the requirements agenda for e-accessibility in public procurement practice. Participants will review the current situation In the Member States and need for harmonisation in Europe.

20 October-'Technical Day' - from policy into practice. The workshop will analyse existing e-accessibility requirements used in public procurement in several specific technical domains. It will evaluate these domains with respect to the needs of users/consumers (particularly older or disabled users), the public procurer, the regulator and the industrial provider.

21 October- 'International Day' This workshop will look into future common approaches that should build on international best practice to enable older and disabled people to gain benefits from a harmonised global marketplace.
