Imperial tackles slide of science in schools

The falling popularity of science at schools and universities so worries Imperial College, London, that it plans to employ postdocs who will spend half their time on research and the rest teaching mathematics and science in selected London schools.

The plan is part of Imperial's effort to widen participation. Imperial insists that it will not drop its entry requirements but will work with schools and colleges to ensure that students get the necessary grades.
