十月 27, 2000

Imperial College has received £ million from an alumnus who has gone on to become one of the most successful technology investment managers in America.

Gary Tanaka, principal and director of Amerindo Internet Fund, was awarded an MSc and a PhD in applied mathematics by the college in 1970.

The money - the largest personal donation the college has received - will be spent on new accommodation for the management school and will be used to support internet technology.

Lord Oxburgh, rector of Imperial College, said: "We are deeply grateful for this donation, which will have an enormous impact on the role of management and enterprise at the college."
