Identifying regional policies supporting research and innovation - call for tenders

六月 24, 2003

Brussels, 23 Jun 2003

The European Commission has published a call for tenders for a contract to identify those priorities in regional policy which emphasise research and technological development in the applicant countries (infrastructure and strategies).

The study will focus on the situation in applicant country regions (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Malta, Cyprus and Turkey). These regions are, for the most part, lagging behind regions in the Member States as far as research, technological development and innovation (RTDI) are concerned.

The study should identify the actions to be taken in the applicant countries with regard to RTDI, and the priorities to be highlighted, by focusing on what could be done at a regional level. It should also appraise the capacity of these countries to develop and implement regional strategies.
