Cambridge University Press is speeding up its reaction to current events. Despite the university receiving a royal charter from Henry VIII in 1534 to print and publish books, it did not produce any until 1584. It took a further seven years to produce the first money-spinner - the contemporary Geneva bible. Now CUP is pondering how to survive in an online world. "He who lives by the sword will one day meet a man with a revolver," said Michael Holdsworth, business development director.
