Heriot-Watt University - Rich seam of financial support

九月 23, 2010

A gold-mining magnate is to make a gift of more than £1 million to his alma mater to fund energy research. Robert M. Buchan, founder of the mining company Kinross Gold, will donate £1.3 million to Heriot-Watt University, where he obtained an undergraduate degree in mining in 1969. It is the largest gift from a single individual in the institution's history. Heriot-Watt said it would use the cash to fund a chair in sustainable energy engineering in order to help Scotland remain at the forefront of the energy sector.
