HEFCE is planning to revise its relationship with universities and colleges. It wants to look at accountability for public funds in cases where an institution is collaborating with another organisation to deliver teaching or research. It also intends to define what activities constitute an appropriate use of HEFCE funds.
The funding council is developing detailed plans for consultation this summer.
