UK universities could slip down the global pecking order if health takes over from education as the Government's top priority, according to a report by MPs. The Education and Skills Committee's report on education expenditure says health service expenditure could outstrip that on education in future spending settlements, and it warns that lower investment in universities would jeopardise the UK's reputation as a world leader.
