Hancock's half-support

七月 3, 1998

The Age of Open Government No 2: Governors at Portsmouth University have been rather economical with the truth in responding to local MP Mike Hancock's call for a chancellor's court to investigate recent troubles. Chair of governors Caroline Williams told Hancock in a letter that nobody had backed his idea. But minutes obtained by The THES show that, while the idea was rejected by a large majority, governors Hugh Mason and John Foster were for the idea before being persuaded to back down. A minute recording that "all governors" saw no reason for a court has been amended by the removal of the word "all".

Hancock is not pursuing the case.
