Hacked off with lectures

十一月 2, 2006

University journalism departments no doubt encourage students to write for the student newspaper or magazine. But perhaps it is best if they do not read what their charges write - if the contribution in this month's issue of PR1 , the University of Central Lancashire's student mag, is anything to go by.

Heather Swift, a third-year journalism student, writes: "You can take a girl to a lecture, but it doesn't mean she'll learn. That's the story of my entire time here.

"I've learnt more by putting PR1 together than I ever have on my degree course... This uni doesn't seem to care if you've got an education when you apply, so it's unsurprising that it doesn't seem to be giving me one while I'm here."
