Guidelines issued on electronic publishing

Electronic publishers should not be allowed to gather data on users without their knowledge or permission, according to the International Coalition of Library Consortia.

The ICOLC has issued guidelines for publishers that it hopes will protect the privacy of library users when they are looking up information. So far, 60 libraries worldwide have endorsed the guidelines.
