Graduate statistics

五月 26, 1995

Your leader (THES, May 19) seeks to compare statistics on the graduate recruitment market and salaries from a variety of sources. This does lead to problems as the surveys cover different sectors of the market. The members of the Association of Graduate Recruiters are those organisations which regularly recruit graduates on a formal basis, normally into some form of training.

It is interesting that the survey by High Fliers reported elsewhere in the same issue revealed that only about one third of finalists were actively seeking employment. On this basis there are still at least half of those graduating being employed in "traditional" graduate employment in spite of the expansion in higher education numbers. This, together with the expected rise in employment of graduates in small and medium enterprises, must be good news for today's undergraduates.
