Not satisfied with the opportunity to reduce undergraduates to quivering wrecks in seminars, three academics at the universities of Durham and Teesside have ventured further afield to conduct research for their project, "The art and economics of intimidation".
They have decided to work undercover - one as a bouncer in Northeast pubs and clubs, another with the police in a northern city port, and a third as a club DJ in the Northwest. Presumably the latter's success in finding evidence of intimidation depends on what records he chooses to play.
