Glasgow/York/Royal Holloway - Gender rebalancing rewarded

Three university physics departments have been recognised by the Institute of Physics for their efforts to reduce gender inequality among academic staff. The universities of Glasgow and York and Royal Holloway, University of London have been acknowledged for addressing the under-representation of women at the highest levels of the discipline by the institute's Juno Awards. About 20 per cent of physics undergraduates and lecturers in England are women, but only 5 per cent of professors are female.
