Glasgow University has set up a postgraduate scholarship scheme open to children of those who died in the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York.

The scholarship commemorates Glasgow graduate Colin McArthur, senior vice-president of Aon Inc, who died in the attacks on the World Trade Center. It will be available in all of the university's faculties and will cover all postgraduate research or taught degrees.

Glasgow hopes to raise funds to endow the scholarship in perpetuity and to open it to any US student.
