Glasgow Caledonian University - Stirling work

Embroidery created by a team at a Scottish institution will be a prominent feature of £12 million plans to restore Stirling Castle to its mid-16th-century splendour. The team led by Malcolm Lochhead, emeritus professor at Glasgow Caledonian University's department of fashion, marketing and retailing, will be required to provide two "cloths of estate". One, bearing the coat of arms of James V's French queen, Mary of Guise, will be hung in the castle's spectacular Queen's bedchamber. It will be a metre tall and will use thin gold wire instead of modern thread. The designs have already been approved by Scotland's Lord Lyon King of Arms.
