Glad to leave Leeds

Relieved to be on his train to London last Wednesday was Tom Wilson of the AUT, who had been speaking at a Leeds meeting of the National Union of Students. As the other speakers escaped he was summoned to a side meeting for NUS sabbatical officers irritated at his alleged cosiness with the leading lights of new Labour. They left him in no doubt that Messrs Blair and Blunkett have long since exhausted their honeymoon with the NUS. A precursor, we are sure, of things to come when Wilson starts his new job with the Third Way sceptics at Natfhe.
