Giddens makes way

The search is on for a successor to Anthony Giddens, director of the London School of Economics, who is due to quit his post in September 2003. Professor Giddens - the man behind prime minister Tony Blair's third way - will bow out of his £160,000 job when his six-year contract comes to an end next autumn. Nominations for the next director should be sent on a postcard, c/o The Diary.
