* Four new members have been appointed to the board of the Higher Education Funding Council for England. They are: Sir Richard Sykes, rector of Imperial College; Nigel Savage, chief executive of the College of Law; Ann Lloyd, director of the National Health Service Wales; and Peter Saraga, former managing director of Philips Research Laboratories UK.
