Christ's College, Cambridge, has produced the best exam results of all Cambridge University colleges over the past two decades, according to a study by Peter Tompkins, who compiles the annual Tompkins table.

Christ's is followed by Clare and then King's at the top of the table, which awards points according to degree classifications. At the bottom is Magdalen, and just above it are New Hall (23rd) and Girton (22nd).

Separately, the annual report of Cambridge's careers service shows that only 4 per cent of last year's graduates are assumed to be unemployed. The financial and legal professions are still the most popular option of Cambridge graduates. Almost a quarter of the graduates stayed on to study for a further degree.
